You are a caregiver if you are responsible for assisting a family member or loved one with a chronic illness or disability. Sheltering Arms is committed to supporting caregivers as they experience successes and losses.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is an innovative program focused on the caregiver's health and well-being. You will meet other caregivers experiencing the ups and downs of helping a loved one.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a free program for caregivers generously underwritten by The Strake Foundation.

Program Details

  • Six-week education program

  • Topics include: reducing personal stress, communicating effectively, with others and in challenging situations, making decisions about care facilities, mastering caregivers' transitions, hiring in-home help, making financial decisions, understanding depression, making decisions about driving, and helping memory-impaired elders.

Each class participant will receive a comprehensive resource guide that adds in-depth information to the topics covered in class. The Caregiver Handbook contains chapters that cover topics in the Powerful Tools for Caregivers Program.
