| COMMUNITY IMPACT
Sheltering Arms Senior Services serves nearly 68,000 seniors and their family caregivers annually.
During the 2008-2009 fiscal year:
- 225 seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of memory loss received 90,392 hours of specialized
care at the Sheltering Arms Day Center, and 274 family caregivers received 107,819 hours of respite.
- 618 seniors received 6,063 hours of assistance from case management professionals who helped them by
arranging appropriate community services.
- 803 seniors received 154,182 hours of personal care and home management services, including help with
bathing, dressing, eating, and other personal care tasks.
- 12,966 individuals received education about issues facing the elderly in our community and services
available to assist them.
- 17,532 individuals in 8,356 households were assisted with payment of their gas and electricity bills.
- 502 homes received energy efficiency measures such as caulking and weather stripping, and 326
households received energy education to help clients reduce their bills.
- 1,160 seniors received a combined total of 303,048 days of health and safety monitoring with Lifeline
Medical Alert.
- 415 older adults living alone received safety-check telephone calls from 297 volunteers.
