| Day Center
Individual or group volunteers help with programs, activities, and operations of the center. As a volunteer, you may assist with reading, arts and crafts, gardening, exercise, and entertainment. Your companionship contributes to an improved quality of life for the participants who attend the day center.
Caregiving and Companionship
Volunteers assist individual participants or work with a small group to encourage participation and insure success in various scheduled activities – everything from craft projects to domino games to field trips.
Entertainment and Demonstrations
Volunteers, amateurs and professionals alike, provide music, dance, and theatrical programs for the participants’ enjoyment. Others conduct cooking, flower arranging, and a variety of other demonstrations or simply share slides of their most memorable travels.
Parties, Parties, and More Parties
Volunteers help participants celebrate holidays and other special events by throwing a party – complete with activities, refreshments, and fun!
Decorations and Seasonal Flair
Volunteers select seasons or special times of the year and decorate the center to create variety, beauty and enjoyment for the members.
Create-a-Craft
Volunteers prepare the basics for a variety of craft projects that the members can finish and call their own - things like simple bird houses that the members can assemble and paint.
Gift Shop and Craft Sales
Crafts sold in the day center gift shop have a special touch. Volunteers seek the advice of members in the design of various crafts such as angel pins and holiday decorations and then complete the fine detail work for them.
"I feel like I get so much more out of volunteering at the Day Center than I give. I can’t imagine not volunteering here." – J.C.
